Benefits of having a doula

What doulas do/don't do

Research shows that birth givers who have the support of a doula are:
  • less likely to need Pitocin
  • less likely to have a cesarean birth
  • less likely to use any pain medication
  • more likely to rate their childbirth experience positively
Doulas offer physical, emotional, informational, and partner support. Our primary obligation is to you, the birthing person. We are not clinicians, and do not diagnose or provide medical services, such as monitoring fetal heart tones, pelvic exams, blood pressure checks, etc.
