I am a native New Yorker who took a detour to San Francisco for 5 years. When I returned to NYC, I was in search of a community that felt livable. Sunnyside provided me with the neighborhood vibe that I was searching for. I have lived here for the past 10 years with my husband. Both of our children were born into this great community we all feel lucky to call home.
My journey to pregnancy was not an easy one, so when I planned for my labor and delivery, I wanted an experience that did not feel clinical. I chose to have a doula assisted labor for both of my births. My experience with my own labor and delivery, and my growing fascination with birth, ultimately lead me to pursue work as a doula. I completed my training and certification with the Long Island Doula Association (LIDA) in 2017.
In addition to working as a birth doula, I am also a School Counselor. I have been counseling high school students for the past 13 years. My experience in counseling is a natural fit with my work as a doula. As a doula, my role is to support you. My background in counseling has taught me to be present, to listen without judgement, and to help others process their thoughts and feelings.
Labor and delivery is hard work, but it is also magical, empowering and transformative. Every time I witness a birth, I am blown away by the power of the mama. My goal is to help those in labor (and their loved ones) to have a positive birth experience where they feel respected, cared for, and capable. I provide both physical comfort and emotional support to help families get the most out of their birth experience.
